Jane Tappenden and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Bill EnglishCuningham Taylor is thrilled at the success of the 2014 “Food for Thought” charity business lunch, which was sponsored by the law firm for the first time this year. The Food for Thought business lunch is an annual fundraising event in support of the work of the Family Help Trust (FHT) to break the cycle of child abuse in vulnerable Canterbury families.
Spokesperson Jane Tappenden, who is a partner in Cuningham Taylor and is also on the FHT Board, said the company was delighted that this year’s lunch had attracted increased interest from the business community, making it the most successful in the seven year history of the event with over $30,000 raised for the charity.
The lunch in early September was an excellent opportunity for the almost 200 business professionals attending to hear a pre-election update on the economy from guest speakers Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Bill English, and the Labour Party’s Finance Spokesperson, the Hon. David Parker. Meanwhile, Peter Townsend, CEO of the Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce, proved a lively and very capable MC for the event.
Cuningham Taylor is proud to be able to assist the FHT to continue its important work tackling the causes of child abuse and neglect in the community.
