Isabel Mitchell  

Isabel is one of New Zealand’s foremost family lawyers and has been involved in many high profile family matters in recent times. She appears at the request of the Court as Counsel for the Child, and as Counsel for Protected Persons under the Protection of Personal & Property Rights Act. Her practice covers the whole of the Family Law jurisdiction, but she has particular expertise in the connection between relationship property and trust law and Family Protection cases. Isabel has a special interest in cases relating to the UN Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and she appears for the New Zealand Central Authority.

Isabel is a past Convenor of the New Zealand Law Society Family Law Committee, and a past President of the Canterbury District Law Society. She is a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

Her outside interests include Bridge and supporting her sport-playing nephews.
